Testimonies

I feel beyond lucky to have studied voice under Joe Santaniello, and even more so to have him as a mentor and friend. A gifted performer and teacher, I first met Joe when he directed a musical at my middle school- I loved working with him,  but due to the pandemic, I didn’t start my formal voice training with him until the summer before my senior year. Despite attending a liberal arts university my first year of college, Joe still kept in touch with me as a voice teacher and a friend, which meant so much to me. My passion for singing- fueled and strengthened by Joe- was not fulfilled at my university. By November in my first semester, I knew that I wanted to study vocal performance. I called Joe, and that same night, he was already helping me determine repertoire for prescreens and what schools I should apply to. While teaching his current students and directing shows, Joe still made time for me, and we filmed my prescreens Thanksgiving weekend- If anyone is a miracle worker, it truly is Joe Santaniello.

Joe is truly dedicated to his students and always considers them. He has truly changed my life. Joe believed in me and pushed me to succeed when others did not, and had it not been for his unwavering support and honesty, I would not be getting a degree in vocal performance. I am endlessly grateful to Joe for all that he has done for me as a performer and as a person. There is genuinely no one better to have in your corner, and Joe is the type of voice teacher every student should have and every parent should want their child to have. In my middle school production, I remember Joe stating “everyone can sing well as long as they have good technique.” That statement reigned true then and now. Even in the two years I have studied with him, Joe has significantly grown my voice due to his vocal technique, as well as giving me exposure to topics such as diction, IPA, audition/interview skills and attire, and music theory. I trust in him wholeheartedly for vocal/performance and career advice. Joe’s work ethic and dedication to his students’ success, happiness, and vocal health is truly what sets him apart. “Thank you” doesn’t seem to suffice all my gratitude- I can’t recommend him highly enough.
